dear friends,
we all know the situation in the middle east is difficult,complicated and painful. there are many different representations of the situation, in media in and out of israel, but the truth is elusive..

as always, and there is always so much information beyond the headlines that must be taken into account.
gil and i have decided to support, passionately, something called 'the people's voice'.. it is a document written by Ami Ayalon, former head of israel's 'shabac' (secret service),former head of the israeli naval forces and a decorated war hero, and Dr. Saari Nusseiba, president of a prominent palestinian  university and a key figure in the palestinian authority.

it is a non-political initiative, a census, meant to push politicians from both sides to read an agreement by showing how many people on both sides demand a peaceful solution. 
there are already over 150,000 signatures from both sides, but many more are needed. i urge you to look into the site,

another fascinating site is about a heartbreaking, courageous unity of bereaved families from both sides, people who have paid the highest price for the absence of peace in our region, with their sons, daughters, parents, loved ones. they have chosen not revenge and hatred, but peace and unity. they are truly inspiring.please read about them at

and last but definitely not least, a wonderful group called 'rabbis for human rights'. if you remember, gil and i once posted a document about the "united religions"..this is one such a project which gives great hope. please read their interfaith declaration, it is fantastic! the site is

i want to add a sentence that ami ayalon told gil and me in a meeting we had with him. it is a quote from a plaque posted in a holocaust museum. it says:
"for evil to prevail it is necessary only for 
good people to do nothing".

queridos amigos,
todos sabemos que la situación en medio oriente es difícil, compleja y dolorosa. hay muchas visiones sobre la situación, en los medios de comunicación, dentro y fuera de Israel, pero la verdad se elude.

como siempre hay siempre mucha información detrás de los titulares que debe ser tenida en cuenta. gil y yo hemos decidido apoyar, apasionadamente, algo llamado 'people voices' (la voz de la gente). es un documento escrito
por Ami Ayalon, ex jefe del servicio secreto israelí, de las fuerzas navales y héroe de guerra condecorado y el doctor Saari Nusseiba, presidente de una importante universidad palestina y figura clave en la autoridad palestina.

es una iniciativa no política, un censo, creado para empujar a los políticos de ambos lados para leer un acuerdo que demuestra cuánta gente en ambos lados piden una solución pacífica. ya hay más de 150000 firmas de ambas partes, pero se necesitas muchas más. os invito a echar un vistazo a la web

otra web fascinante trata sobre una iniciativa llena de coraje, desgarradora, de un grupo de familias de ambos lados, personas que han pagado el precio más alto por la ausencia de paz en nuestra región con sus hijos, hijas, padres, seres queridos. han escogido no vengarse ni odiar sino la paz y la unidad. son realmente inspiradores. por favor leed sobre ellos en:

quiero añadir una frase que Ami Ayalon nos dijo a gil y a mi en un encuentro que tuvimos con él. está extraído de una placa que se encuentra en el museo del holocausto. Y dice así:
"para que el mal prevalezca tan sólo es necesario que las buenas personas no hagan nada"
