Dear friends,
I am writing to you now from my home in Israel, just a few
kilometers from the area being bombed constantly by Hezbolla. My
home has become a small refuge camp for 2 families from the North,
with their children, who can no longer stay in their homes for fear
of death. My husband just got a phone call, and it is almost CERTAIN
he will have to join the fighting. I am terrified.
These are very difficult days for all of us.
Throughout July we have been touring and it has been fantastic,
thank you all of you for your lovely messages of compliments and
encouragement, you always warm my heart, but since this catastrophe
started with the Hezbolla, it has been very difficult to breath. I
fear for my family, my friends, my beloved children, in fact, Israel
itself! I have a feeling most of the world does not really
understand the gravity of the situation. I feel this is the
free world up against fanaticism, democracy and peace against
violent totalitarianism, humanism against an ideology preached by a
few and carried by incited multitudes no longer interested in co-existence
and harmony, in pluralism and equality, in religious freedom and
peace. Unfortunate poor brainwashed people unleashed, hungry for war,
for blood, for Jihad! I try to live my life normally, to
smile for my children, to sing and write...but inside I am worried
and fearful for my family, friends, you,and the entire free world!!!
The calls for an immediate cease fire without committing to
the complete disarmament of Hezbollah is handing the victory to them
on a silver platter. I have learned from most reliable sources that
these terrorists have been using civilians as live shields,
sometimes at gun point, even going as far as taking scores of
children for rides on rocket launching vehicles as they move from
place to place to successfully avoid being hit. They
cynically use the suffering of the innocent to stay vital and to
grow. An unconditional ceasefire will encourage all the other
terrorist groups everywhere! Then all people, living comfortably in
peace in their beautiful countries, will not know what hit them when
the monsters turn their ugly faces in the direction of Paris and
Rome, turning all that is beautiful to hate, fire and fury in the
name of god. I think that American and British policy as spelled
last night at the bush - Blair press conference is the only way to
go in this case… cease fire WITH disarmament of Hezbollah and
international forces committed to keeping the peace and aiding the
Lebanese government in strengthening it's own army and protecting
it's border as the sovereign, democratic state it is. And of course,
MASSIVE aid to Lebanon, to help it rebuild itself. I am sorry
for all the innocent Lebanese and Israeli victims who perished for
this senseless madness… I know the Israeli army who is fighting to
protect my life is doing everything in its power to
avoid hitting civilians and suffering losses for this everyday.
Please remember that these are not mercenaries or professional
soldiers. We are talking about but the sons, husbands, fathers and
brothers of an entire people, my own family included! Our people
will not send their children to battle if it wasn't to defend our
homes and our freedom and the safety of all citizens of Israel
including the millions of Palestinians who live with us in Israel!!!
the fanatics who brought this upon us will pay, if not in this life
than in the next, for their atrocious deeds.
Unfortunately the sound of the word "resistance" blinds
too many eyes. The positive WW2 connotation is used to make people
think that Hezbollah have a legitimate cause for all this brutality.
But with a heavy heart I must tell you: yes, they do resist: they
resist all that we believe in, all that is human. They
resist LIFE!!!
We Jews, traumatized by the Holocaust, who know what resisting evil
is, have no choice but to fight for the tiny piece of land we call
home. We are surrounded by millions of people who openly say that
they want to kill us. They force me to believe them and though
making peace is the ideal way to live, and what I believe in
strongly, when your house is on fire you go out and defend it, and
that is what we are doing.
I ask you all to pray for us, for Israel and Lebanon, in our
struggle against the monsters.
And as for the Palestinians, as always my heart cries for all the
stupid mistakes we have all made, Israel and Palestine, in
deteriorating our situation to the all-time-low it is at now. I
believe dialogue was and is possible with our neighbors and peace
will come! 2 states for 2 people was and is are only solution. This
is not true, of course, for Hezbolla which call only for Israel's
destruction, and if they win or even if they make everyone THINK
they won, Hamas, El Kaida and other fanatics will only become
stronger and our dream for peace with the Palestinians will go
further and further out of our reach.
Why, I ask, why this river of tears and blood???why this HATE??
Weren't six million jews enough? Weren't hundreds of thousands of
innocent victims of fanatic regimes in all the Arab countries, Iraq,
Lebanon, Afghanistan, and the list goes on and on, weren't their
lives payment enough for the Gods of peace to come down and dwell
amongst us?
Is anybody up there listening??????
I wish you all peace and health wherever you are.
Love
Noa.
